Authorities Investigating Deadly Shooting in Miller County

On Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Miller County Sheriff’s Office and the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department responded to two residences near the intersection of East Broad Street and Sugar Hill Road in Texarkana. The locations of the two residences are at the City / County lines.

Following the receipt of a 911 telephone call, Deputies and Officers located the body of a 71 year old male identified as Marvell McFadden of Texarkana. Mr. McFadden was deceased, and was the apparent victim of a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

Officers and Deputies made contact with another male subject at a second address on Sugar Hill Road who had apparently become involved in an altercation at the McFadden residence which resulted in the shooting death of Mr. McFadden.

Miller County Deputies worked with TAPD Crime Scene Investigators to process the East Broad Street scene, and Miller County Deputies worked the Sugar Hill Road location. Mr. McFadden’s body will be transported to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office for examination. The investigation and interviews continue, and based on evidence obtained, at this time, no criminal charges have been filed in the matter. Two weapons have been recovered, along with other evidence at the two locations.

At the conclusion of the investigation, a file will be forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney for review, for a final determination regarding the possibility of any criminal charges being filed in this matter.
