One killed in wreck on Interstate 30 Monday evening

One person was killed in a wreck on Interstate 30 Monday night in Texarkana, according to police.

Texarkana Arkansas Police responded to a fatal accident on I-30 around 9 p.m. Monday.

According to police, traffic was stopped due to a collision Arkansas State Police were working at the 9 mile marker on the eastbound side of I-30. A 2004 Ford ranger driven by Dustin Edmonson was eastbound on I-30 and failed to stop for the traffic stopped in front of him. Edmonson collided with the rear trailer of a 2011 Freightliner driven by Jodie Hilliard of Grand Prairie Texas.

Hilliard was not injured during the collision. Edmonson’s vehicle was severely damaged and trapped him inside the vehicle. Edmonson sustained numerous serious injuries and was extricated from the vehicle by Arkansas Fire.

Edmonson was transported by Lifenet to Christus St. Michael Hospital where he died from his injuries.

According to police the collision is still under investigation.
