Texarkana, TX – Texarkana, Texas Fire Department responded to a call at Pleasant Grove High School this morning. A person on the property smelled smoke and call the authorities.

PGISD Officials stated that the fire alarm system was not activated and the smoke was coming from behind the High School. The fire department still combed the buildings and even the roof. They did not find any evidence of smoke or fire.

After clearing the school, the fire department started to search for the smoke.

After searching the streets directly off of McKnight, TTFD found the smoke behind a house down on Gin Road. This is not in the city limits. The resident voluntarily set the brush pile on fire. The fire department backed the fire truck down the long driveway and into the resident’s backyard. The fire department quickly extinguished the brush fire. Later, scanner traffic confirmed that this was a legal brush fire outside of the city limits.
