K-9 helps apprehend Wake Village shooting suspect

The suspect in a shooting in Wake Village is in custody after a short search using a Bowie County Sheriff’s Office K-9.

The shooting occurred about 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Arizona.

According to police radio traffic the victim was shot in the hand. The suspect had fled the scene when police arrived on scene.

A Bowie County Deputy deployed his dog and after about 20 minutes of searching they discovered the suspect in the backyard of the house where the shooting occurred.

The dog was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.

The victim was transported by LifeNet and their current condition is unknown. LifeNet is also attending to the suspect due to injuries from the dog.

Bowie County Deputies and Wake Village Police remain on scene investigating.
