Arrest Made in Recent Craigslist Robberies

Recently the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department Criminal Investigation Division have been investigating reports of armed robberies committed by an unknown black male with a knife. The reported incidents began when the victims responded to an ad posted on Craiglist for personal services. Once meetings were set up and a location was agreed upon, the suspect would approach the victim in the parking lot, robbing them at knifepoint. In one of the incidents the suspect forced the victim to drive to an ATM for money.

Detectives developed information that led to the identification of Kevin Smith, 28yoa. Smith was arrested on February 28th, 2018 at 5:00 p.m., during the execution of a search warrant at his residence in the 2100 block of Preston Street. Smith was found hiding from officers in the attic of the apartment.

Smith has been charged with 5 counts of Aggravated Robbery.

TAPD asks that anyone who has recently been the victim of a similar robbery to come forward and report the incident to 903-798-3154 or the Texarkana area CrimeStoppers at 903-793-STOP.
