A Bowie County grand jury handed down an indictment this month for a Texarkana man accused of raping a former girlfriend at knifepoint.

Brandon Lee Harrison, 30, was arrested Sept. 15 by members of the New Boston, Texas, Police Dept. and Bowie County Sheriff’s Office at a house on South Bowie in New Boston, according to a probable cause affidavit. The woman’s current boyfriend called police after receiving a text from the woman that Harrison had held her at knifepoint, sexually assaulted her and was refusing to allow her to leave her house.

When officers entered the house through a side door, they were able to quickly take Harrison into custody. The woman fled out the front door.

The woman told New Boston Police Officer Rusty Hill that when she returned home after being gone all day, Harrison was was hiding in a bedroom and came out and attacked her.

“She then stated that he grabbed a knife and held it to her throat as he was sexually assaulting her in her bedroom on the bed,” the affidavit states.

Harrison has been indicted for aggravated sexual assault. If convicted he faces five to 99 years or life in prison. He is currently being held in the Bowie County jail. Bail is set at $250,000.
