Saturday, October 7, Main Street Texarkana is hosting their third annual fundraiser, Dine on the Line, with dinner, a fall market, live music and dancing right in the middle of the street on State Line Avenue.
This year there will be a special opportunity for fun and celebration of Texarkana’s “twins” status with a coordinated State Line Line Dance, featuring our own local Dusty Rose Band. The line dance will take place around 6 that evening and is open to groups from all over this area. It will be the cornerstone of this year’s Dine on the Line event.
Groups interested in taking part in the Line Dance need to register ahead of time and will then be sent a step-by-step video of the dance, written just for this event, the T-Town Boogie (inspired by and many thanks to the country & western classic by Brooks & Dunn, “The Boot-Scootin Boogie”). Teams who show up to dance in team colors (matching t-shirts, fun or crazy garb, or the like) will receive free entrance to the event, but will need to purchase tickets if they plan to eat dinner and enjoy the rest of the evening. Various awards will be given for categories like largest group, best dancers, best outfits, etc.
In addition to the Line Dance, DOTL 2017 will also feature a fall marketplace of vendors, a kids’ area & special kids’ meal from Johnny B’s, and of course dinner at the longest table on State Line from downtown’s own Pecan Point and Verona Restaurant. The Dusty Rose Band will provide music all evening, from 4-9pm. Tickets are available online through Sept 30 at www.dotl2017.eventbrite.com and are $25 for adults and $10 for kids 12 & under.
C’mon, git on down to Downtown and Boogie!
