The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in the 1800 block of New Boston Road on Wednesday night. Danzavia Cheatham, 27, of Texarkana Texas, was killed when he walked into the path of an eastbound Nissan Altima, driven by Diamond Collins, 19, of Texarkana Texas.
Cheatham was walking north across New Boston Road in the middle of the block after leaving the Mojo Convenience Store, located at 1805 New Boston Road, at approximately 8:15 last night. As he crossed the roadway, he was struck by Collins’ vehicle.
Cheatham, who suffered severe head trauma in the crash, was transported to Wadley Regional Medical Center, where he died a short time later. His body was sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences of Dallas for an autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation at this point. No charges have been filed.
