12-year-old boy fatally shot, police investigating

Texarkana, Ark. Police are investigating a shooting that killed a 12-year-old boy Saturday in Texarkana.

According to police they responded to E. 50th Street around 2 p.m. Saturday to a report of an accidental shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered a 12-year-boy had been shot.

The boy was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A 13-year-old juvenile was also on scene. According to police the two juveniles were playing with the gun when it went off.

According to TAPD, “the criminal investigation division is continuing an investigation into the cause of the shooting.”

Counselors will be available to students at College Hill Middle School, the school the victim attended.
