The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Alumni Association Board of Directors is accepting nominations of alumni and faculty for recognition at the 2016 Eagle Roundup: A Community Celebration of Distinguished Alumni and Faculty on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. on the A&M-Texarkana campus at 7101 University Avenue, Texarkana, Texas.

Mark Bledsoe (MS ’89) of the United Way of Greater Texarkana and Jill Whittington (MSBA ’11) of Alcoa are serving as event co-chairs. Both say this year’s celebration, which is set during A&M-Texarkana Homecoming Week, promises to be both exciting and entertaining.

“Up to three distinguished alumni and one distinguished faculty member will be recognized at the event,” Bledsoe said. “Presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards began in 1982, and the Distinguished Faculty Award was introduced in 1999.”

Nominations may be made by completing an online nomination form on the A&M-Texarkana Alumni and Friends website at Distinguished Alumni & Faculty Nominations at tamut.edu. Deadline for nominations is Sept. 5.

“We are celebrating this year’s honorees with an old-fashioned barbecue with all of the trimmings,” Whittington added. “We’ll have amazing food, fantastic music and an enjoyable program to recognize our distinguished alumni and faculty member. It’s going to be a great event.”

Texarkana party band Split Decision, featuring A&M-Texarkana alumnus and faculty member Selena Jefferies, will headline the event. Tickets are $35.

“Corporations, individuals and organizations sponsoring the 2016 Eagle Roundup will provide much-needed funds for student scholarships at A&M-Texarkana,” Bledsoe said.

“An investment in scholarships at A&M-Texarkana is an investment in the future of our community, our state and our region,” Bledsoe explained. “Now more than ever, scholarships can mean the difference in a student attending A&M-Texarkana or choosing another school. We want to make sure we have the ability to recruit and enroll students who want to attend our university and become a part of the Texarkana community.”

Information on tickets, as well as individual and corporate sponsorships, is available on the Alumni Relations page of the university website at www.tamut.edu.
