25-year-old New Boston man sentenced to 50 years for Mt. Vernon murder

A New Boston man has been sentenced after being found guilty for the murder of a woman in Mount Vernon, Texas.

Christopher Allen, 25, was arrested in May 2015 in Mt.Vernon. According to Chief Robert Moore, Allen spent 372 days in jail while undergoing trial and has since been found guilty and sentenced.

Allen was sentenced to 50 years in prison and will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

According to media reports Allen was arrested at the scene of the crime which took place on Sunday, just after 2 p.m., in the 2300 block of Logan’s Point in Mount Vernon. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Wendy Gail Valentine.

According to Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Robert Moore, Christopher Allan was living with Wendy Gail Valentine.

In addition Chief Moore stated, Allen was also arrested on an unrelated warrant from Bowie County for criminal trespass.
