Gov. Rick Perry today released the following statement after 43 Texans were cleared from a 21-day monitoring period following their contact with the state’s first Ebola patient:

“With guarded optimism we welcome the news that 43 Texans have been removed from active monitoring for Ebola. Continuous vigilance in confronting this threat and the cooperation of those affected is what has brought us to this point, and we look forward to the day when the remaining individuals can also be removed from active monitoring.”

Among those in the clear is Tomas Duncan’s fiancĂ©e, Louise Troh. Monday marks the 21st day since her last contact with her Duncan, who was the first person to die of the disease in the United States.
