It’s getting closer to time for the fourth annual CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children Colorful 5K run.
This year’s Colorful 5K will take place September 24th at Trinity Baptist Church on the corner of Trinity Boulevard and Four States Fair Boulevard (3115 Trinity Boulevard) in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Proceeds from the run will benefit the local CASA for Children program serving more than 1,000 abused and neglected children in and around Texarkana in an 8 county area annually.
On September 24th, late registration begins at 8:00 am with a special children’s run at 8:30 and the cross-country track 5K begins at 9:00 am. You will be powdered along the cross-country track at 10 different powder stations with non-toxic color.
There will be a warm-up conducted by Anytime Fitness trainers, a Children’s Run led by Anytime fitness runners, a bounce house, magician, sno-cones, tastings from Orange Leaf, food from Super 1 Foods and a knocker ball bounce area.
New this year is CASA’s Tiny Casa – a raffle for a tiny house.
The Construction Technology Program at Texarkana College is creating a 200 square foot Mini Rustic Cottage for CASA. It will be constructed with heat and air conditioning, and accessibility to electricity and plumbing. The interior will be finished with images of Jeremiah Johnson and the outside will feel like Colorado. This energy efficient home will be built on a trailer and can be easily transported.
Tiny Casa Raffle tickets are $20.00 and will be available online at www.casatexarkana.org/tinyhouse beginning September 1, 2016. The tiny house will make its’ debut at the Colorful 5K on September 24th and will be given away at the CASA’s Tiny Casa – GIANT Cause Raffle Party on Thursday, December 1 at Hopkins Ice House on Gibson Lane, from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
