Over 200 AHS students participated in the National School Walkout. During the 17-minutes, AHS students stood silently and held hands as a sign of solidarity against gun violence in schools.

After the event, senior Christina Cannady encouraged her fellow classmates to continue to honor the Parkland victims, to love one another, and work together to create change.

“I cannot imagine something so tragic happening at my school, but we must all do our part and work to embrace everyone within our school community.”

Across the nation, students participated in the event to protest the lack of action from lawmakers in the wake of the February 14 shooting that killed fourteen students and three staff members at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL.
