Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism Brings 550+ to Texarkana

The 41st annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism is underway in Texarkana, Arkansas.

According to Arkansas Tourism Director Joe David Rice over 550 people had registered for the conference.

According to Shelby Woods with CJRW a silent auction Monday night is expected to raise at least $75,000 for scholarships for Arkansas students. Over 300 Arkansas students have been supported by this scholarship.

Participants from across the state of Arkansas are discussing and learning about new topics related to all things tourism. Sessions include, Your 40-Minute Marketing Plan, Mountain Bike Tourism: What do Mountain Bikers Want, and Reputation Management in the Age of the Internet.

Tourism is often cited as the second largest industry in the state – behind agriculture.
