Ashdown man arrested for negligent homicide after hitting pedestrian

A Ashdown, Ark. man has been arrested for negligent homicide after allegedly hitting and killing a man with his vehicle Wednesday night on Little River County Road 70 near Ogden, Ark.

According to the Arkansas State Police report 56 year-old Adrian N. Deadner of Ogden was walking west on LR-70 pushing his bicycle when a car driven 31 year-old Marker Merrell of Ashdown collided with him killing him.

Merrell was not injured and allegedly fled the scene.

According to the ASP Deadner was pronounced dead 1:12 a.m. Thursday morning by Dr. Frost at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana.

The report states that Merrell refused all blood-alcohol tests.

Merrell remains in Little River County Jail pending his first court appearance in Ashdown.
