If you are looking for southern American, chef-inspired pub food, homemade brews and signature cocktails, Pecan Point is the place for you.

Founded Oct. 27, 2014, this company was built from the ground up by General Manager Jason K. Williams, Executive Chef Rebecca Williams, and Owner Bill Scurlock.

Jason Williams and Scurlock said this gastropub, with chef inspired foods, began as a family business.

“Bill is the president and brewer, his wife is the controller, and his son is the architect, it doesn’t get more family than that.” Williams said.
Scurlock originally was a home brewer, and his friends constantly asked him when he would open his own shop.

“We’re handcrafting beer, we wanted to make handcrafted food, and then Jason handcrafts the cocktails,” said Scurlock.

Pecan Point evolved greatly since its first opening. “I Initially wanted just a microbrewery but the space cried out for doing more,” said Scurlock.

Scurlock said the restaurant is the anchor of the company “but ultimately, we want to increase our brewing capacity and get into wholesale distribution as wide as we can.”

Williams said the brewing business is like an artform and that everything has its own unique character.

When asked how they work together, Williams said the establishment lets him do what he wants to do.

“He oversees the food and oversees all of it. I leave it alone and try to learn from him,“ Scurlock said.

“I like the establishment and the ability to be able to create and do my own thing with someone who is thankful and grateful for it,” Williams said.

When asked where his love for the food industry came from, Williams said, “I grew up in this industry, I was a dishwasher at 16, turned into the head bar manager at 21.”

Williams said he loves working in the food industry because of the fun environment.

“It’s like you’re at a party, so you get to be a part of everybody’s celebrations, whatever it is, we get to be a part of it,” Williams said, “it’s fun and inspiring to be a part of everybody’s happy times instead of being a part of everybody’s sad times, people can just come in and have a good time.”

Williams and Scurlock said they chose Texarkana because it is their hometown.

“I like being able to be around my family and raise my kids,” said Williams,”the slower paced lifestyle makes me happy.”

When asked about catering they said that they are definitely open to it and it is on the agenda, but they want to take baby steps.

“We wanna perfect and get down what we do here first. Most what we do is in house catering,“ said Williams.

Williams said their goal for the restaurant is to “continue to be successful and thrive”

Upcoming events include a yearly anniversary, a grand opening, as well as an Octoberfest. Pecan Point will also be the exclusive bartender at Clay’s Golf and Guitars held May 30.

Hours of operation are Tuesday-Thursday 4pm to late and Friday-Saturday 11 am to late.
