Five arrests made in recent series of robberies at gunpoint

Five arrests have been made after a series of gunpoint robberies were reported in the area.

According to authorities, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has been investigating a series of robberies in which individual victims reported being robbed at gunpoint of personal property, including cell phones and money.

The first robbery reported took place on November 4th, 2016, on the 3300 Block of Washington Street at 11:30 a.m. According to authorities, a female victim reported she was robbed at gunpoint while retrieving mail from the complex mailboxes by 3 male suspects.

A second robbery was reported on November 23rd, 2016, on the 200 Block of Relator Avenue at 6:00 p.m. TAPD reports a male victim, employee of the business, reported he was robbed at gunpoint by 3 unknown male suspects.

The third report was made on November 25th, 2016, on the 4300 Block of North State Line Avenue at 3:00 a.m. Authorities say a male victim advised he was robbed at gunpoint by 3 unknown male suspects and 1 female suspect.

According to TAPD, after these reports were made, detectives worked diligently to identify and arrest these suspects before anyone was seriously injured. Their efforts were successful and 5 arrests have been made.

TAPD identified the arrests as follows:

Kevonte Smith, 19-year-old male, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery (2 counts) and possession of a firearm by certain person.

Rodrick Vann, 19-year-old male, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery (3 counts), possession of a controlled substance, and breaking and entering of a vehicle.

Master Leal Jr., 22-year-old male, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery (2 counts) and breaking and entering of a vehicle.

Kiona Easter, 18-year-old female, arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

Phillip Cornelius, 25-year-old male, arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and breaking and entering of a vehicle.
