Amanda Horton, Owner and Chef at Flour Child Fine Foods, donated two pieces of equipment , a refrigerator and freezer, to Randy Sams’ Be the Blessing Training program today.

Cathy Smith, Program Director, reached out to Horton to inquire about some equipment for sale.  To Smith’s surprise, Horton donated both pieces of equipment to Be the Blessing Training.

Be the Blessing Training is an initiative through Randy Sams’ Outreach to train and equip participants to cook at a level where they can obtain a job in the food industry.

“Cathy has taken the time and put in the effort to help those who are less fortunate learn a skill and gain self confidence.  We need to see more of that in Texarkana.  Our local community has supported Flour Child in so many ways that it only feels right to give back when we can.  Now that we are selling our 3415 Texas location, we are happy to donate some of our site-specific equipment to help Cathy and Be the Blessing move forward and maintain an active role in our local food service industry,” said Horton.

Smith contacted Bill’s Movers, long-time supporter of Randy Sams’ Outreach Shelter, to assist with transporting the donated equipment.

“They are always quietly helping out in the community too,” Smith said.
