Starting it’s fifth year, a Queen City church is opening their doors for a free community Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will be held Nov. 24 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. located at 1206 U.S. Hwy. 59 S. in Queen City. Anyone is welcome to attend the meal.

“Here at Christian Fellowship Church we believe that being a part of the body of Christ is reaching outside the walls of the church. We love our community and want to give back and serve whenever we can. We will have a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Turkey, dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, rolls, pumpkin pie,” said event coordinator Michelle Poteete.

Economic need is not a factor for those who come to enjoy the Thanksgiving event.

After serving 1,400 at the event in 2014, the ministry has set a goal of 2,000 for this year.
Those attending are not required to inform the church in advance, however if delivery is necessary they would ask to be notified as soon as possible. Poteete said that while most of the church members help with the cooking, set-up, clean-up and cleaning volunteers are welcome to get involved.

“We would love for anyone who would like to help,” she said. “Over the last couple of years we have had members of our community come and volunteer. We appreciate all of the help offered by this amazing community.”

Anyone wishing to volunteer is asked to contact the church at 903-796-8384 or at admin@cfcarklatex.com.
