Liberty-Eylau Senior Left Tackle, Kylar Cooks, signed a national letter of intent to play Division 1 Football for Texas State on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.
Cooks was an All-District pick after the 2016-2017 football season and the 2017-2018 District 7AAAA Offensive Line MVP.  He is also a member of the LE track and field team and the LE powerlifting team. Cooks is a three-year starter for the Leopards, but his high school achievements are not limited to football.
“Kylar is a true example of a student-athlete,” LEHS Athletic Director Steve Wells said. “He is an all-state choir member, on the academic UIL team, was part of the musical, graphic design and video production and is in the top of his class academically.”
Leopard offensive line coach Jeremy Harrell called Cooks the most athletic offensive lineman he has ever coached. Kylar graded out over 90% and had 110 pancake blocks on the line.
Kylar says he chose Texas State because of “the energy I felt there and the fact that I will have the opportunity to better myself on and off of the field”.
He will be majoring in English.   Kylar is the son of LaKaesha Cooks and Kevin Green.
