Man Jumps Through Window to Escape Fire

7:30 p.m. Tuesday | Texarkana, Texas Fire units responded to a residential fire at 15 Sweetbrush Ave. Tuesday evening.

According to a neighbor the homeowner was home alone and in the shower when the fire started.  The man had to break and escape through a window on the front of the house.  The neighbor said he kicked in the front door and rescued the family’s parrot, which is doing fine.

There were large flames visible and heavy smoke coming from the attic area.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The man was treated on scene by LifeNet for a few minor cuts but refused further treatment.
