Nash Sex Offender Compliance Checks Results in 2 Felony Arrests

Nash, Texas Police recently arrested two sex offenders for failing to comply with their sex offender registration requirements.

The week of April 20th through 24th Nash Police Department conducted compliance checks with registered sex offenders who are registered in the City of Nash. Lieutenant Keith Chestnutt handles all of the Nash Sex Offender Registrations. Lieutenant Chestnutt frequently works with other state and government agencies to ensure compliance with the sex offenders registered in Nash.
According to Nash Police Detective Michael Sutton on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015, Nash Lieutenant Keith Chestnutt, along with the Texarkana Attorney General’s Office and Texarkana Texas Parole Office conducted a thorough investigation into one Steven Selvog. It was found that Selvog had failed to comply with two of his registration requirements. Selvog was found to have an undocumented E-mail address and more importantly, an undocumented Facebook account. Lt. Chestnutt’s efforts resulted in a felony warrant and arrest. Selvog is currently in the Bi-State Justice Center’s Jail. The arrest of Selvog resulted in a warrant for a parole violation meaning Selvog is now held without bond. Texarkana Parole advised that Selvog is currently out of TDCJ’s Beeville Unit after being paroled in late 2014. Selvog was sentenced to 60 years and pending a hearing, Selvog could be sent back to a TDCJ Unit to serve the remaining 40 years left on his sentence.
On Thursday, April 23rd, 2015, while conducting compliance checks, Lt. Chestnutt found that sex offender George Brooks had failed to comply with the same two requirements as the previous listed offender. Brooks was found to have both an undocumented E-mail and Facebook account. Lt. Chestnutt obtained a felony warrant for Brooks and on the same date at about 4:20pm, Brooks was arrested by Nash Officer Morgan Garrett and Sgt. Jordan Looney and booked in to the Bi-State Jail and given a $10,000.00 bond.
