1:00 a.m. Friday | A police pursuit ended in a fiery crash at the dead end of Sabine Ave early Friday morning.

According to police radio traffic a Texas DPS Trooper was attempting to stop a vehicle for an unknown reason.

A TTPD officer advised dispatch that he had just seen a trooper chasing a car through Spring Lake Park. Moments later the trooper advised dispatch that the car had wrecked and was on fire.

The chase ended when the driver drove into a deep drainage ditch at the end of Sabine Ave.

The driver and both passengers made it out of the vehicle and were quickly detained by Texas DPS Troopers, TTPD Officers, and Bowie County Sheriff Deputies.

The driver and one other occupant were transported by LifeNet with unknown injuries.

According to Texas DPS spokesperson Trooper Sylvia Jennings Trooper Birmingham was attempting to stop the vehicle for traveling on the wrong side of the roadway on N. Park Road.

The driver, 27-year-old Justin Johnson is facing charges of evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and two misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance charges.   A warrant has been issued.

Johnson and passenger Leah E. Osburn both sustained incapacitating injuries. Johnson was transported to St. Michael’s Hospital, and Osburn to Wadley Hospital.

A third passenger was not injured.
