Redwater High School will be bringing holiday cheer with a performance of “Yes, Virginia The Musical”. “Yes, Virginia The Musical” was created by Macy’s as part of its annual holiday Believe campaign and has been performed by hundreds of schools and other groups each holiday season since 2012.

The performance of “Yes, Virginia The Musical” will take place on December 13 at 2 p.m. and December 14 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in the Redwater Elementary Cafetorium.

“Yes, Virginia The Musical” is part of Macy’s Believe campaign, which supports Make-A-Wish®. The Believe program encourages children of all ages to drop their stamped letter to Santa at the big red letterbox at their local Macy’s or to visit macys.com/believe to create and send a letter. For every letter received, Macy’s will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make-A-Wish, helping to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

This heartwarming story is an original production based on the true story of 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon, whose curiosity about the existence of Santa Claus inspired her to write a letter to the “New York Sun” newspaper in 1897 and prompted one of the most famous newspaper editorials of all time.

Since the program’s launch, the retailer has offered $100,000 in grant funds each year to help alleviate production costs, and Redwater ISD is one of this year’s recipients of a $1,000 grant!

Redwater ISD is one of only 100 schools and non-profit community organizations across the country to be offered a $1,000 grant from Macy’s as part of this year’s musical program. Grant recipients use their funds to purchase everything from costumes and set materials to sound and lighting equipment.

Macy’s provides the script and score for “Yes, Virginia The Musical” royalty free to all interested organizations and has created a comprehensive digital toolkit on yesvirginiamusical.com that includes helpful videos, an interactive script and production reference materials to help groups stage their performances.

“Each holiday season, we are delighted to receive wonderful feedback and touching stories from the groups that stage ‘Yes, Virginia The Musical’,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer.

New this year, Macy’s has introduced the Wish Writer™ interactive stylus and app to benefit Make-A-Wish and offer a fun new way for children to learn the magic of giving through interactive games and writing letters to Santa.

Compatible with both Apple and Android devices, the Wish Writer stylus and app are available in approximately 600 stores across the country and on macys.com for $14.99, with $1 from each sale benefitting Make-A-Wish.
