The Texarkana Twins have signed two players from the Blue Grass state, Tyler Marshall and Troy Squires, from the University of Kentucky. In addition to gearing up for the season on the diamond the Texarkana Twins are making preparations off the field as well.

The Texarkana Twins are still looking for families within the community to host the players who will be representing the Twins from colleges from all over the United States. This provides the opportunity to get to know Texarkana Twins players on a personal level while providing a home away from home. Additional benefits to becoming a host family include: reserved season tickets for your immediate family in an exclusive area just for host families, free kids zone passes for children, a special pre season meet and greet, and on field recognition at a select Texarkana Twins home game. Anyone interested in hosting a Texarkana Twins player for the upcoming season or needing additional information can contact the team.

Tyler Marshall is an infielder from Louisville, Kentucky. Marshall is listed as an infielder but plays all over the field for the Wildcats. Marshall has played in five games this season for the Wildcats and has knocked in 3 runs and is batting .308 on the year. Last summer he played for the DeLand Suns in the Florida Collegiate League where he appeared in twelve games over a short period of time with the Suns. While there for the summer he batted .419 with nine runs, six runs batted in and a double in thirty-one at bats.

Troy Squires is from Elizabethtown, Kentucky and is the man behind the plate for the Wildcats. In 5 games this season Squires is batting .222 with five RBI’s. Last summer he signed with the Matsu Minors from the Alaska Baseball League. He suffered an injury in the first game and missed the rest of the summer. He spent time in the fall in rehab but was good to go for the Wildcats for the spring season.

Marshall and Squires are both Juniors and look to provide experience and leadership for the inaugural season for the  Twins this summer.
