On Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, citizens in neighborhoods across Texarkana, Arkansas will be turning their lights on and getting together with friends and neighbors for an evening outside to celebrate the “33nd Annual National Night Out.”

According to TAPD, The National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote “neighborhood spirit” and “community partnerships”.

National Night Out, a year-long community building campaign, is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Representatives from the Police Department, Fire Department, and City Hall will start visits this year at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Texarkana Arkansas Police Department officers will be available for questions and encourage the public to share any concerns about police services in their neighborhood.
