TASD Hires New Security Director

Thursday, October 23, 2014 – Following the extensive selection review process of highly qualified individuals, the Texarkana Arkansas School District Board of Directors accepted Superintendent Dr. Becky Kesler’s recommendation to hire Billy Jones as the TASD Security Director. “Mr. Jones’ experience in law enforcement, security experience within an educational system, and comradery with the students and staff make him the obvious choice for the position,” commented Dr. Kesler. “I am confident that TASD will benefit greatly from his broad range of experience.”

Mr. Jones graduated from Arkansas High School and attended the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff. He is a certified FBI Agent, certified Law Enforcement Officer and certified School Resource Officer. Mr. Jones began his career with the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) in 1980. After serving thirty years with TAPD, Mr. Jones retired in 2010. While employed with TAPD, he supervised patrol units and the Special Operations Unit. He also served as a Field Supervisor, SWAT team member, and detective. In addition to Mr. Jones’ extensive law enforcement experience, he has received a vast amount of training in his areas of expertise, some of which include: officer safety, critical incident scenario, national incident management system, school threat assessment, and Arkansas safe schools. Mr. Jones has served as a security officer with the Texarkana Arkansas School District since 2010. In his role as security officer, Mr. Jones has assisted in maintaining the safety of the students, staff and visitors on our campuses and during extracurricular events.

I am deeply committed to ensuring the safety of our staff and students.”
