TEXARKANA, TEXAS – The Texarkana Texas Police Department continues to investigate a three vehicle crash that claimed the life of Virginia Comer, 17, of Nash Texas on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to the crash at 5:12 p.m. yesterday on Interstate 369/Jarvis Parkway, just north of Westlawn Drive.

Jacob Baker, 30, of Ashdown Arkansas, was southbound on Interstate 369 in a 2016 Dodge Ram pickup truck. His vehicle hydroplaned on the wet roadway before crossing the median and striking head on with a northbound 2011 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Russell Comer, 47, of Nash. The force of the collision caused the Hyundai to spin around and hit another northbound vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Symone Tucker, 29, of Texarkana Texas.

Virginia Comer was a passenger in the back seat of the Sonata and died at the scene. Her parents, Russell Comer and his wife, Tonya Comer, 43, were transported to Christus St. Michael with serious injuries. Both Baker and Tucker suffered non-life threatening injuries and were also transported to Christus St. Michael.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this point.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
