TEXARKANA, TEXAS – The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a vehicle crash at the intersection of Richmond Road and Wheeler Street at 5:27 on Tuesday afternoon. One of the drivers, LaQuinia Hopkins, 30, of Texarkana Arkansas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation has determined that Kalob Doyle, 25, of Texarkana Arkansas, was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang southbound on Richmond Road. Hopkins was eastbound on Wheeler Street in her 2003 Toyota Avalon. As Hopkins attempted to cross Richmond Road, Doyle’s vehicle struck her in the driver’s side door. Hopkins’ vehicle suffered extensive damage, and she had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency crews.

Doyle was transported to Christus St. Michael Hospital, where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have yet been filed in this case, but investigators believe that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Hopkins was not wearing a seatbelt, while Doyle was wearing his seatbelt.
