According to an email sent by Texas A&M University – Texarkana president Emily Cutrer to students and faculty Ana Arellano, a TAMUT student, died Thursday evening from injuries sustained in a car accident.

According to Cutrer, Arellano, an undergraduate student from Horatio, Arkansas was involved in a car accident Wednesday evening while driving from her home in Horatio to Texarkana for work.

Ana was a freshman last year and was looking forward to returning as a sophomore this fall said Cutrer. “We are heartbroken beyond words for the Arellano family and are saddened for Ana’s large circle of devoted friends and classmates.”

“This loss comes at a time that our campus is still healing from November’s tragic accident,” Cutrer wrote in the email. “It is also very difficult for Horatio, as our student Daniel Gonzalez, who lost his life in that accident, was from the same small community and, indeed, was a very close friend of Ana’s.”
