Drum roll, please. The results for the Recycle-Bowl 2017 are in!

The Trice Horticulture Environment Awareness Team (HEAT) led their campus to victory by winning in the School Division category for the state of Arkansas. Over 1,000 schools participated this year, representing 550,000 students and teachers who recycled 2 million pounds of paper and other materials.

HEAT is made up of third and fourth grade students who come together with a common goal of making the environment a better place. In addition to recycling materials, the team maintains the school garden and large flowerbeds.

“The National Recycle Bowl competition required a lot of work for these young environmentalists,” stated Ms. Newton, team sponsor. Recycling is one of the easiest and most effective actions anyone can do to protect natural resources, conserve energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create jobs. “Congratulations to the students and staff of Trice for making a difference and earning the title of School Division State Winners.
