Two Arrested For Copper Theft

TEXARKANA, Texas–On August 10th at 5:55am, Texarkana, Texas Police Officers responded to the area of W.5th St. and Bowie St. in reference to a suspicious persons call.

Police had been notified about two males walking in the middle of the road carrying an air conditioning unit.  When officers arrived they found an A/C unit sitting in the middle of the road and two males that matched the description of the suspects approximately 30 yards away.   Officers were able to determine that the two suspects, Thomas Wright, 25, of Texarkana, Texas and Earl Simms, 41, of Texarkana, Texas had stolen the A/C unit from a Church in the 1700 block of W.6th St.  Simms and Wright were arrested and transported to jail.  Simms was booked on Theft (material-copper) and Pedestrian in Roadway (walked in roadway with traffic) charges.  Wright was booked for a Theft (material-copper) charge.
