1. Man Claims to Be Knowingly Spreading HIV in Texarkana Area

Our most popular story of the year also happened to be one of the earliest large stories we had. In a video that was posted to Facebook a masked man claimed to be purposefully infecting women in Texarkana with AIDS.

The video starts off with the man saying, “Hi my name is Joe and I’m from Shreveport. I’ve infected many women in Texarkana. I have a list of their names” He then goes on to list about 30 names, and then says “you ladies need to get yourself checked, just because I make it rain in the club doesn’t mean I don’t have AIDS.”

No arrests were made and although never officially said by police it was most likely a hoax.

2. Cinemark closed by order of Texarkana, Texas Fire Marshal

On Thursday, September 4, 2014, Texarkana, Texas assistant fire chief Chris Black ordered Cinemark movie theatre closed until the sprinkler system in the building was repaired and in functioning order. The sprinkler system failed due to a leak in the underground water line behind the building due to a large sinkhole.

The theater reopened the next day after a quick repair.

3. Head on Accident With 18 Wheeler Kills Two I-30 W at Nash, TX

September 2, 2014

A flatbed 1 ton truck pulling a trailer eastbound on Hampton Road lost control and struck the guardrail then entered the westbound lane of Interstate 30 and was struck head on by an 18 wheeler.

Both occupants of the 1 ton truck, Dustynn Shrader, 32, of Texarkana, Texas and Mario Zambraro, 21, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, were deceased at the scene. The driver of the 18 wheeler was taken to St. Michaels Hospital for his injuries.
Interstate traffic was closed most of the day which backed up area traffic.

4. Two Shot in Gang Related Shooting at Raceway Station State Line

October 5, 2014

911 operators received reports of a large disturbance at Raceway gas station, 4120 N. Sate Line Ave., with multiple shots fired. Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas Police were quickly on scene and according to radio traffic reported that a male had been accosted by several, “four block gang members.”

The victim also told police that someone had fled the scene who had been shot in the side.

5. De Kalb Police Officer Shot; Suspect Shot Dead by Police

A DeKalb, Texas police officer was shot in the leg on Pecan St. in Dekalb. A police officer could be heard calling shots fired over the radio while gun shots blasted in the background.

6. Two Dead and Five Injured in Wreck on 259

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol two people are dead and five injured after a wreck on 259 just north of the Texas border.

John Nguyen, 22, was headed north in a Scion on US 259 when he crossed over the center line hitting the rear of one car, causing it to spin, and then collided head on with a Cadillac .

7. Four Minors Ejected From Vehicle During Rollover Accident

Number 7 is actually a story about a missing girl. We decided not to include that story due to the fact she is a minor and probably not something she want’s brought up again.

Liberty Eylau & Redwater Volunteer Fire Department, LifeNet, & Texas DPS responded to a major one vehicle ejection accident at Clear Springs Road & Trexler Road.

There were reported to be six passengers ranging in age from 18 months to 17 years of age. Initial reports indicate at least four passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

Amazingly no one suffered any major injuries.

8. Three College Students Killed in Wreck

Three local area college students were killed last night in a wreck on I-30 around the 9 mile marker.

A release from Texas A&M University-Texarkana says they are saddened to report that the tragic automobile accident claimed the lives of our beloved students Daniel Gonzalez, Nathaniel Rodriguez and Sofia George who was also a student at Texarkana College.

9. East Texans Charged in Red River Army Depot Conspiracy

U.S. Attorney John M. Bales and Colonel Brandon Grubbs, Red River Army Depot Installation Commander, announced today that seven individuals have been indicted on federal charges involving conspiracy to commit an offense and to defraud the U.S. government and theft of government property or money in the Eastern District of Texas.

The defendants were named in a 2-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury on Sep. 17, 2014, charging them with conspiracy to commit an offense against and to defraud the U.S. government and theft of government property or money. These violations are alleged to have caused over $2 million in losses to the Department of the Army and Red River Army Depot. Those charged are:

10. Estate Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Chubby Cheeks

The Estate of Josh Bishop filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Chubby Cheeks, LLC and three employees in Miller County. The complaint alleges staff of Chubby Cheeks Liquor held two alleged shoplifters at gunpoint, handcuffed, and beat them with a hammer or mallet.

The Original Complaint names Chubby Cheeks, LLC, Allen Rogers, Lane Rogers, and Sammie Townes as Defendants. The complaint further alleges that Josh Bishop, 28, died on Feb. 23, 2014 as a result of the injuries caused by the Defendants on Jan. 25, 2014.

Bonus Video: Two Arrested On State Line For Chasing and Firing Gun at 18 Wheeler

Although not in the top 10 list of articles this story did have our second most watched video.

Police Received a call about a robbery that had just occurred at 5400 N. State Line. The details are unclear at this time and TTPD deferred to TAPD whom we have yet to hear from. The initial call came in as a robbery and the caller was following an 18 wheeler that was involved. Soon the radio indicated the disturbance had traveled to the Red River on 71 and turned around and started heading south back into Texarkana.

Bonus Video: Woman Steals Sheriff Deputy’s Car and Rolls It

According to radio traffic a LifeNet crew was on scene first but staged close by waiting for law enforcement due to the nature of the call. LifeNet Medic 63 was cleared to go in by Bowie County Sheriff 310. Moments later Medic 63 and deputy 310 were telling their dispatchers that the patient had driven off in the deputies car.
