Wanted Felon Leads Police on High Speed Chase; Shots Fired

2:07 p.m. Tuesday | A high speed chase ended Tuesday afternoon on W. 7th Street near Robison Rd. with the arrest of, Matthew Ryan Harper, a wanted felon when he wrecked out.

Bowie County Sheriff’s Office deputies were advised by Texas Pardon and Parole that Harper was wanted out of Oklahoma for felony warrants had ran from them and attempted to run them over and had a handgun on Timberlake Drive.

A few minutes later Bowie County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Wake Village Police advised they had spotted the car and were following him on U.S. 67 headed into Texarkana.  Harper pulled into Roadway at 7th Street and the loop when deputies attempted to pull him over.

Harper then fled from the Roadway station at a high rate of speed before crashing just east of Robinson Road.  According to radio traffic an officer fired at the suspect vehicle as it was leaving the Roadway station.

Harper bailed from the crashed vehicle and ran into a small pond where he was quickly apprehended.
