Ashdown Police Department is currently investigating a sexual assault that took place Monday, July 18 just before midnight.
According to APD, officers were called to the Little River Memorial Hospital about a woman who had been assaulted.
Officials say the woman told officers that she was attacked the previous night in her home on Ellen Drive in Ashdown.
According to Ashdown Police Department, the case is being handled as a sexual assault and is currently under investigation.
According to police, there have been no arrests at this time.
Since the attack took place, Facebook posts of other sexual assaults are rumored to have taken place in the last few days in Ashdown. In these posts, citizens of Ashdown are urging everyone to stay vigilant.
Ashdown Police Department says there has only been one sexual assault reported to them but they are taking the Facebook posts very seriously.
“I can confirm that we have only received one report as far as Ashdown Police Department goes. We don’t have any information at this time that would lead us to believe there have been other assaults,” stated Official Spokesperson for Ashdown Police Department. “We are taking the Facebook posts and the entire matter very seriously.”
