DESCRIPTION:The Mistletoe Fair will start Thur.\, Nov. 19\, with the “Rockin’ Roulette” themed Preview Party.  Tickets for this year’s party are $50 and include heavy hors d’ oeuvres catered by sustaining members\, beer and wine selections and a cash bar. \nThe purchase of the ticket also includes casino chips to get you started playing on professionally staffed. Blackjack\, craps\, and Roulette tables sponsored by ORR Auto Group. Guests will be entertained by Texarkana favorites\, “Split Decision” while having fun with casino games\, getting early shopping done and bidding silent auction items donated by local businesses. \nEnjoy private shopping during Friday’s Mistletoe Fair Brunch featuring mimosas\, a three course meal and table decorations by Julie’s Deli. The menu will include a carrot-ginger soup\, florentine egg soufflé\, herb roasted potatoes\, grilled asparagus and bourbon- pecan bread pudding. Private shopping begins at 9 a.m. followed by brunch and bingo. Brunch tickets are $40.00. \nFriday night will be a fun-filled family evening beginning with a 5:30 p.m. Story Time with Mrs. Claus\, followed by the big event\, Santa’s arrival at 6:30 p.m.  \nBreakfast with Santa\, Santa’s Workshop and Story Time with Santa will also be taking place on both days. Reservations for events can be made in advance or limited seating will be sold at the door.   \nThe benefit drawing for a 2015 Volkswagon Beetle Classic convertible\, courtesy of ORR Auto Group\, valued at over $26\,000\, will be held Mon.\, Nov. 23\, 2015 at ORR Auto Group.   \nTickets can be purchased for $100 and only 500 tickets were printed.

DESCRIPTION:State line is an interesting and unique part of our hometown. Everyone has taken a picture in front of the post office\, at least once or twice. It makes our home a little different too. \nExplore how Texarkana’s unique history has driven its governmental culture with acclaimed Texarkana College professors Dr. Beverly Rowe and Dr. Candy Stevens Smith as part of Texarkana College’s new Distinguished Lecture Series on Thur.\, Nov. 19th at 6:30 p.m. \nDr. Beverly Rowe \nDr. Rowe has taught at Texarkana College for 23 years and is a notable Texarkana historian who has published numerous articles and books about the Twin Cities\, including the book Historic Texarkana: An Illustrated History. Dr. Rowe and her husband purchased and restored two buildings downtown\, creating a 5\,000 square foot townhouse and establishing the Lindsey Railroad Museum. She is the recipient of the Ralph W. Steen Award from the East Texas Historical Association (2010) and the Outstanding Achievement in Preservation Education Award from Preserve Arkansas (2015). \nDr. Candy Stevens Smith\nDr. Smith has been a government professor at Texarkana College for more than 30 years. Prior to joining the faculty\, she held a position in local government and was on the staff of a United States congressman in Washington\, D.C. In 2000\, she was TC’s first recipient of the TC Endowed Chair for Teaching Excellence award. Dr. Smith earned an A.A. from Texarkana College in 1974 and went on to earn a B.A. in English\, M.A. in Political Science\, and Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University in College Station\, Texas.

DESCRIPTION:2nd annual Santa Sprint & Reindeer Run benefiting the Texarkana Museums System will take place at 9 a.m. on December 12\, 2015. The race will begin and end at the historic Ace of Clubs house in Downtown Texarkana. \nHow the Santa Sprint 5k works:\nEnter your family\, a group of your friends\, or just yourself as a ‘Santa’ for the 5k race. Comfortable Santa Claus type clothing is encouraged and will add to the fun race atmosphere. Participants are not required to run and may choose to walk/run\, power walk\, or simply walk. As you register and socialize\, you will see the beautiful seasonal decorations at the Ace of Clubs House which were done by local philanthropic organizations and decorators. The decor will be provided by Pi Beta Phi\, Gamma Sigma Gamma\, P.E.O Chapter V\, William Wilson and Brent Stewart. \nRace begins & ends at the historic Ace of Clubs house.\nAdding to the spirited pre-Christmas event will be the Reindeer Run. A judged portion of the festivities\, the Reindeer Run allows pet owners to enter pets wearing their best doggie Christmas attire. Reindeer ‘looks’ are encouraged for this event. There will be 8 themed ‘reindeer’ (dog) categories including best dressed\, best trick\, fastest and cutest. All categories are named after one of the familiar 8 reindeer mentioned in the classic\, “A Visit From St. Nicholas” by Clement Clark Moore. (Also known as “Twas The Night Before Christmas.”) Every dog entered in the contest will be automatically eligible for the very special Rudolph award\, which acts as a Best of Show prize.

Santa will be there for photo ops along with plenty of visiting furry friends that are currently adoptable or rehabilitating rescues. DESCRIPTION:The holiday season brings the natural beauty that candlelit streets provide as a historic village and decorations\, music\, and more set the mood for your historic holiday experience. The 29th Annual Christmas and Candlelight is here at the Historic Washington State Park on Saturday\, Dec. 12. \nThe homes of yesterday are adorned with historic period decorations of pine cones\, grapevines\, magnolia and evergreens.  \nDaylight tours are from 1-5 p.m. Candlelight tours begin at 5 p.m. when thousands of luminaries will be lit\, and will continue until 8 p.m. Admission is $10 adults and $5 children ages 6-12. \nPlan time to schedule to visit Williams’ Tavern\, offering a Christmas buffet from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is also a horse drawn surrey ride or shop the gift shops for that special holiday gift.
