Downtown Christmas Activities

There will be plenty of Christmas activities for the whole family in Downtown Texarkana Monday, beginning at 4 p.m.

Food and craft vendors will be open to the public in Front Street Festival Plaza beginning at 4 p.m. Children may have their photo made with Santa in the plaza area between 4 and 6 p.m. Santa has to leave the plaza at 6 p.m. to get ready for the Main Street Texarkana Christmas parade, so families are encouraged to come early.
The public is also invited to walk through Texarkana, Arkansas’ Wonderland of Christmas trees, decorated by members of the public.

More vendors will be set up at the Texarkana, Texas Farmers’ Market at 305 Texas Blvd., offering jams, jellies, gift baskets, baked goods, live Christmas trees and wreaths. The Texas-side vendor area will close at 7 p.m.

The Steampunk-themed Christmas parade will begin at 7 p.m., following Broad Street to Texas Boulevard, turning onto West Third Street then taking State Line Avenue to the Downtown Post Office. The Christmas camels, which lead the parade each year, will be in Front Street Festival Plaza prior to the parade. Restroom facilities and a hand-washing station will be available at Front Street Festival Plaza.

Other activities downtown include decorated windows along Broad Street. Many windows have been seasonally painted, and local nonprofits have set up Steampunk window displays in some of the businesses. Those windows will be numbered and visitors are asked to vote for their favorites on Main Street Texarkana’s Facebook page. Voting will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8.
