5:45 p.m. Sunday | A woman was transported to a local hospital Sunday afternoon after an accidental shooting.
According to Texarkana, Texas Police Department Public Information Officer Sergeant Michael Jones at approximately 5:45 p.m. officers responded to a report of an accidental shooting in the 1400 block of South Lake Drive.
“The female victim was struck in the torso with one shot from a handgun,” said Jones. “She was transported to CHRISTUS St. Michael for treatment.”
According to Jones her current condition is unknown but officers at the scene reported that she was answering questions at the time she was transported.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident said Jones.
