An elderly man was killed and his wife left in critical condition after an overnight house fire on Trexler Road.
Local volunteer fire departments were toned out around 2 a.m. for reports of a house fully engulfed with people trapped inside.
Bowie County Sheriff’s Deputies were the first on scene and rescued the woman from the burning house. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Two other family members were treated for smoke inhalation along with the two deputies.
