Bowie County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people for drug charges Tuesday night after making contact with the occupants of a Jeep parked on Farm to Market 2148.
According to Bowie County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jeff Neal, “around 12:05 am on April 15, 2015 Lieutenant Todd Fore noticed a green Jeep sports utility vehicle sitting on the side of the roadway on Farm to Market 2148. As Lieutenant Fore turned around to make contact with the occupants, he noticed a white female walking from the front of this vehicle and that the hood of the Jeep had been raised.
According to Neal the female, 25 year old Brittany Lavois McAdams of Texarkana, Arkansas, told Lieutenant Fore that her vehicle had overheated and she had stopped to allow the vehicle to cool off. Lieutenant Fore found this odd because the lone passenger with Mrs. McAdams was sitting in the backseat.
“The passenger was found to be Cory Vamont Young who is 39 years of age of Atlanta, Texas. A warrant check revealed that Mr. Young had a felony warrant for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 200 Grams out of Cass County for his arrest,” Neal said. “This warrant was confirmed and Mr. Young was arrested without incident.”
“During this time, Mrs. McAdams admitted to past methamphetamine use, so Lieutenant Fore requested permission to search her vehicle. Mrs. McAdams granted deputies consent to search her vehicle. Lieutenant Fore located a container during his search of this vehicle that contained marijuana. Mrs. McAdams claimed ownership of these items and she was arrested for Possession of Marijuana Under Two Ounces,” Neal said.
According to Neal both subjects were transported to the Bi-State Jail where Lieutenant Fore checked his backseat after removing Mr. Young from his vehicle and found a purple baggy containing methamphetamine.
Young was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Over One Gram and Under Four Grams in addition to his warrant. His bond for this charge was set at $30,000.00. McAdams bond was set at $5,000.00 for her charge.
