Walter “Richard” Roberts, age 75, went to his heavenly home on December 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, following a courageous battle with cancer at a local hospital.
Walter, affectionately known as Richard, was born on October 12, 1950, to W.R. and Gladys Roberts. He was a proud graduate of Humnoke High School. Throughout his life, Richard was a dedicated and hardworking man, employed by Remington Ammunition, Isbell Rice Farm, Carrier A/C Factory, Texarkana Bearing Supply, and Integrity Post Frame. He also honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1971. Richard was a Baptist by faith and loved the Lord deeply.
Richard found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with his family, playing pranks, fishing, watching sports, and passionately cheering for the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Green Bay Packers. While he wore many hats throughout his life, his most cherished roles were those of husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. and Gladys Roberts, and his brother, Dan Roberts.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Wanda Roberts; his daughters, Stacia Plant and husband Keith, and Allison Brown and husband Jason; his grandchildren, Brianna Plant, Richie Plant, Jacob Hargrave, and Caleb Hargrave, all of Texarkana; his sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Gene Harp of England, Arkansas; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Gilbert May of Texarkana; his niece and nephew-in-law, Julie and Derek Sorrows of Stuttgart, Arkansas; his close friend, Clyde Crysel; along with many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Texarkana Funeral Home in Texarkana, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, December 26, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens.
