MT. PLEASANT, TX – The Board of Managers of Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) has officially voted to proceed with a strategic partnership with CHRISTUS Health. According to a statement from the hospital, the decision reflects a “shared commitment to compassionate care, community investment, and long-term access to high-quality healthcare services.”
The move follows a thorough evaluation of potential partners, during which the Board placed a “strong emphasis on demonstrated dedication to rural communities” and the ability to reliably provide specialty services. Board members noted that mission alignment was a key factor in the decision, highlighting that CHRISTUS Health expressed a “commitment to working collaboratively in a manner that brings additional clinical resources, support services, and expertise to the community.”
A significant portion of the partnership agreement focuses on maintaining the hospital’s local identity and respecting the needs of patients and providers in the region. The Board prioritized preserving “local nonprofit governance principles,” which includes the continued role of the TRMC Foundation and the ability to “retain local philanthropy for community-identified health priorities.”
“This decision reflects our responsibility to ensure both excellent care and thoughtful stewardship of our mission,” said Don Lowry, Chair of the TRMC Board of Managers. “The Board is confident that this partnership strengthens our capacity to serve the community while honoring values that matter deeply to our patients and caregivers.”
Beyond maintaining current services, the partnership is expected to involve significant “investment in expanding clinical programs on the TRMC campus and throughout the region.” The move is designed to bring more resources to the area while ensuring that care remains tailored to the specific needs of the Northeast Texas community.
For now, TRMC officials state that the hospital will “continue uninterrupted operations.” While the strategic direction is now set, additional information regarding the implementation and future planning will be communicated to the public as appropriate.
