Child Injury Charge Against Texarkana School District Employee Dismissed
TEXARKANA, Texas–A state court judge in Texarkana has dismissed a charge of
injury to a child filed last year against a former Texarkana Independent
School District behavioral specialist, noting in his order that a Bowie
County grand jury had declined to issue an indictment in the case.
Broderick McGraw, 43, was working at an alternative learning center for
TISD when he was accused of physically assaulting a 13-year-old boy on the
afternoon of Nov. 11. According to a probable cause affidavit,
investigators reviewed video of the incident and believed it conflicted
with McGraw’s account of what happened.
An order signed March 19 by Fifth District Judge Bill Miller states that
the state has asked for the charges to be dismissed because a grand jury
had declined to indict McGraw.
Judge Miller’s order directed the Bowie County District Clerk’s office to
close the case.
