Suspect in custody after man found dead in Ashdown shooting

ASHDOWN, Ark. — A man was found dead and a suspect was taken into custody after a shooting at an Ashdown home early Tuesday, police said.

Ashdown police officers responded about 6:25 a.m. to a reported shooting at a residence on Brodie Lane, according to a news release from the Ashdown Police Department. Officers arrived to find a man dead at the scene.

A suspect is in custody in connection with the shooting, police said. The department did not release the name of the victim or the suspect, and no charges had been announced as of Tuesday morning.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is no threat to public safety, Police Chief Boyd Kennemore said in the release.

Ashdown is the seat of Little River County, north of Texarkana.
