Man Accused Of Fleeing Texarkana Bank On Bicycle After Robbery Demand

Dalton Dean Radke is being held in the Bowie County jail on $250,000 bail after allegedly passing a teller a robbery note and leaving without cash.

TEXARKANA, Texas — A man who allegedly fled a Texarkana bank on a bicycle Thursday after passing a teller a note demanding $10 and $20 bills is being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $250,000.

Dalton Dean Radke, 33, allegedly entered a Guaranty Bank branch at 5800 W. 7th Street in Texarkana, Texas, at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a probable cause affidavit. When Radke approached the counter, he allegedly told a teller he was having a bad day before sliding a note to her.

The note allegedly said, “This is a robbery, don’t put any dye packs, all I want are the $20s and $10s. You scream or press any alarms it will be a bad deal.”

The teller reportedly explained that she did not keep cash in a drawer because the bank uses a system that automatically dispenses cash for tellers during transactions, the affidavit said. Radke allegedly told the teller she was “making too many clicks” on her computer, and she told him that was how she would get the machine to dispense money.

When additional customers entered the bank and another employee entered the lobby from the back, Radke allegedly fled empty-handed, the affidavit said.

As he locked the door, one bank employee allegedly saw Radke riding away on a bicycle north on Kings Highway, the affidavit said. Radke was located and taken into custody by a Texarkana Texas Police Department officer a short time later.

Radke’s identity was reportedly confirmed using surveillance footage from the bank. A TTPD crime scene investigator reportedly found the note on the ground just north of 7th Street.

Radke faces two to 20 years in prison if convicted of robbery. He is represented by the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office. The case has been assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison.
