Man Accused Of Threatening To Kill Ex, Filming Her Without Consent

NEW BOSTON, Texas–Bail has been set at $150,000 for a New Boston man accused of stalking an ex-girlfriend he had previously filmed without her knowledge while the two were intimate.

Jonathan Wiley, 37, allegedly threatened last week to kill his ex, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Thursday. The woman made an in-person report to the New Boston Police Dept. on June 30 that resulted in Wiley’s arrest last week on charges of stalking and invasive visual recording.

Wiley allegedly used hidden cameras to film himself having sex with the woman in April, the affidavit said. The woman reportedly told police that she was “disgusted” when she learned Wiley had allegedly filmed her surreptitiously.

Wiley has allegedly threatened to kill the woman and has been showing up at her New Boston residence, despite being told to stay away. Wiley allegedly sent the woman videos showing that he was at her home and had sent a video threatening the woman’s current boyfriend, the affidavit said.

Wiley allegedly went to the home of the woman’s current boyfriend and left a stuffed animal he had given to the woman on top of the man’s mailbox.

The woman reported that she has blocked Wiley’s phone number but that he continues to use messaging apps to reach out to her via text message, the affidavit said.

Wiley faces two to ten years in prison if convicted of stalking. If found guilty of invasive visual recording, he faces six months to two years in a state jail.

The case has been assigned to 202nd District Judge John Tidwell. Wiley is represented by the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office.
