Bail At $400K For Texarkana Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 10-Year-Old

TEXARKANA, Texas–A Texarkana man is being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $400,000 for the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in 2023, according to court records filed Tuesday.

Brandon Keith Shearin, 38, was reportedly dating the child’s mother when the assault occurred, a probable cause affidavit states. A report was made to the Texarkana Texas Police Department earlier this month after the girl told a relative.

Shearin allegedly asked the girl to accompany him to a relative’s home in Texarkana, Texas, to tend to their dogs while the relatives were on vacation. Once there, Shearin allegedly called the girl into a bedroom and sexually assaulted her, restraining her and ignoring her requests that he stop, according to the affidavit.

Shearin has been in custody since his arrest last week.

If found guilty, Shearin faces five to 99 years or life in prison on each of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Shearin is represented by the Bowie County Public Defender’s Office. The case has been assigned to 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison.
