Downtown LIVE returns Sept. 11 with building tours, local artists
Texarkana, TX-AR — Main Street Texarkana has announced the next Downtown LIVE is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, an evening featuring open house tours of buildings under development, live art, music, shopping and dining.
This month’s event gives visitors a rare behind-the-scenes look at ongoing downtown revitalization, with tours of buildings currently in development including Patterson Place and the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium. Main Street Texarkana’s offices will host an open house featuring works by local artists.
"We are so excited to feature 3 Texarkana artists: Element Rose, Divine, and Steve the Artist, as a way of welcoming the public to our new office," said Main Street Texarkana Executive Director Ina McDowell.
Main Street Texarkana is located on the first floor of the historic Landmark Building at the corner of East Broad and State Line Avenue, where visitors can learn about resources available to downtown businesses.
Musicians including Drexler John will perform throughout the evening, and The Eagle Bourbon and Wine Lounge will extend Happy Hour pricing for the entire event.
Also new in September: free, self-guided tours of the Museum of Regional History from 6 to 8 p.m., and two guided tours of the historic Ace of Clubs House at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ace tour tickets are available now at texarkanamuseums.org.
The evening also marks the launch of the Little Doors of Hope initiative from Communities United — part art installation, part public service project — featuring little doors that open to community resources accessible by QR code.
