T.J. Wall Announces Run For Texarkana, Arkansas Board Of Directors, Ward 4
TEXARKANA, Ark. — Lifelong Texarkana resident T.J. Wall announced Thursday that he is running for the Texarkana, Arkansas Board of Directors, seeking the Ward 4 seat in the November 3, 2026 general election.
Ward 4 covers the area of the city roughly from E. 18th Street south to Realtor Avenue near the interstate, and from Jefferson Avenue east to N. Stateline Avenue. The seat is currently held by Director Ulysses Brewer, who also serves as Assistant Mayor.
Wall, a substitute teacher in local high schools, made the announcement on social media Friday, August 7, telling supporters that years of frustration with city spending and stalled growth on the Arkansas side pushed him into the race.
“I’ve watched us spend tax dollars with nothing to show for it, watched business boom on the Texas side while ours stalls, and driven the same rough roads you have,” Wall wrote. “At some point ‘somebody should fix that’ turned into ‘why not me.'”
Wall was born and raised in Texarkana and comes from a family of public servants — his father serves as Interim Assistant Fire Chief and his mother works at Arkansas High School. Wall has lived with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) his whole life, an experience he says taught him to adapt to difficult situations and find creative, efficient solutions. He is a member of Kiwanis and the founder of the local nonprofit NVST TXK.
His campaign, running under the slogan “Better Call Wall,” is built around four priorities:
- Fiscal discipline. Wall says the city can’t keep spending more than it brings in on projects that don’t pay it back. He has authored a Financial Recovery Proposal that he says maps out how to fix the deficit first and demand a clear return on every tax dollar.
- Competing with the Texas side. Wall says he will fight for a clear pathway to phase out the Arkansas-side sales tax so businesses on the Arkansas side can compete with Texas-side businesses and bring growth back.
- Government transparency. Wall wants to build a single online hub for Texarkana politics where residents can see who represents them, follow every vote, and speak directly to decision-makers — “government you can actually watch.”
- Roads. Wall says surplus from fiscal discipline should go back into the local roads residents drive every day.
“I didn’t just show up with complaints. I did the math and wrote an actual plan,” Wall wrote in his announcement. “It’s all laid out, and you can read every word of it yourself.”

Texarkana, Arkansas Board of Directors seats are nonpartisan, four-year terms. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
